Global warming will ruin Languedoc wine « The Evening Hérault
The winemakers of Languedoc-Roussillon and other regions of France are increasingly worried about global warming on their terroir and their wines.
Rouge alert: the naked truth
Greenpeace has issued a report on the issue (download here – PDF, 1.5MB) and in Burgundy yesterday Greenpeace France organised a cunning stunt to highlight the dangers of climate change (le réchauffement climatique) on wine production: American artist Spencer Tunick invited hundreds of people to pose nude in a vineyard, and expect the photo-shoot to be all over the Net soon.
Meanwhile 50 leading French vignerons, chefs, wine experts and sommeliers (including Franck Thomas, voted the best sommelier in the world) recently wrote a joint letter about their concerns to the French Minister of the Environment and the President in advance of next December’s Copenhagen conference on climate change.
